Lisbeth Maerkedahl is a Librarian at the Main Library in Aarhus, Denmark. Her passion is to ensure that the library plays a relevant and significant role for society in general and for the citizens. \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a wide range of projects and processes with users, network, and partners, Lisbeth has focused on the development of the \u201cnext library\u201d \u2013 the library of the future.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the past 5 years, Lisbeth has worked on a joined project between Chicago Public Library, IDEO\u200b and Aarhus Public Libraries about human-centred design in libraries. The toolkit \u201cDesign Thinking for Libraries\u201d<\/em> was created. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Leo F. H. Ma is currently Head of Upper Campus Libraries at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a Standing Committee Member of the Academic & Research Libraries Section of IFLA, the Hong Kong Ambassador of International Librarians Network, an Academic Committee Member of the LIS programmes of HKUSPACE, and an Advisory Board Member of the LIS programmes of the Faculty of Education of The University of Hong Kong. He writes extensively on LIS and Hong Kong literature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Myzel Marifosque is a graduate of Master of Library and Information Science and Diploma in Public Management from the University of the Philippines. She has worked with various University of the Philippines Diliman college libraries and Main Library sections for more than ten years and is currently Head Librarian of the University of the Philippines School of Labor and Industrial Relations.She is the Ex-Officio of the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines where she served as Secretary in 2014, Public Relations Officer in 2015, Vice President in 2016 and President in 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Pearle Chua is a kidsREAD Manager at the National Library Board. An ardent reader, Pearle has worked with various primary and secondary schools in Singapore to promote reading. Since 2018, she has turned her focus to helping the less privileged children through kidsREAD. She is also an avid collector of children\u2019s books and enjoys turning her home into a mini library<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rajen Munoo is Head, Learning & Information Services at the Li Ka Shing Library, Singapore Management University. Rajen has a double Master\u2019s degree in Library and Information Management from Sheffield, England and Information Studies from University of Natal, South Africa. His research interests are advocacy, information and media literacy, learning, the professional development of librarians and information workers. Rajen is actively involved in local and international library and information professional activities. He value-adds by drawing upon his international work experiences in different types of libraries in Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rebecca Maniates is the Research Librarian for the School of Social Sciences at Singapore Management University Libraries. Samantha Seah is a librarian in the Advisory & Consultation team of NTU Library. She joined NTU Library in 2017 as part of the Instructional Services Division focusing on online teaching tools and gamification before joining the Advisory & Consultation team. As project manager, she launched key library platforms such as LibGuides and the NTU Library Blog to encourage user engagement with the NTU community via collaboration and exchange of ideas. As a liaison librarian for both the College of Science and the Nanyang Business School, she provides reference help and often liaise with faculty and students for their research needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Data Democracy: How libraries can strengthen users\u2019 data literacy<\/strong>\u200b<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This half-day workshop conducted by Ms Lisbeth M\u00e6rkedahl<\/a> from Dokk1 Aarhus Public Library focuses on introducing information professionals to the concept of data democracy and data literacy. Data is important, but how can it be used? How would lay users make sense of data, and what are some of the tools that can be used? The workshop will wrap up with a discussion on the role of the library in increasing users\u2019 data literacy, and the competencies required to develop these skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
